Freds Pass Show
The Freds Pass Show was a big hit for the Kitchen Garden. They did an amazing job entering garden/kitchen items/goods. To top it all off the Zuccoli Kitchen Garden won 1st Prize (and $500) for their display. A big thank you to Christine, Siobhan, Trudy and Katie for all the hard work they do in the Kitchen Garden with the students.
Families Feasting
The third Zuccoli Families Feasting was held Wednesday 5th June. I want to thank the Kitchen team who with the assistance of Anna Kampouris (parent) for taking the lead with cooking a Greek Feast in our school kitchen. So many delicious aromas!
Professional Learning Day Monday 15 July
All staff will undertake professional learning on Monday 15 July. This is aligned to the 2024 Annual School Improvement Plan, where there is an action to review and refine the Behaviour/Wellbeing Guidelines. OSHC will be open on this day. Students resume Tuesday 16 July.
Staff Movements
Alan Jones has taken a short term contract for Semester 2 working at the Goyder Centre and will be an Acting Business Manager within the Department’s Bureau School Business Services. This service enables small schools across the NT to share a business manager, often between three small schools.
I will be taking Long Service Leave from Monday 15 July to Friday 20 September (Term 3). Elizabeth Andrade will be Acting Principal. The Senior Teachers will be given opportunities to be Acting Assistant Principal. I hope that everyone has a great break and Term 3.

This term Year 5/6 have been learning to write historical narratives. We have been investigating images, stories and even role playing going back to the early 1900’s. Our class was set out in rows, we wrote lines of “I will sit up smart and straight”, practiced our times tables, took turns at sitting in the corner with the Dunces hat and walking and sitting like in those times. Mrs Edwards got into full character and visited with her cap, gown and meter stick (all for show – no children harmed during this activity). All the kids had a ball and most were utterly shocked about how students were expected to behave in those days.
Hello everyone.
On the 13th of June 2024 Zuccoli Primary School held our Athletics Day Carnival.
Our students competed in a variety of running, jumping, and throwing events from Preschool all the way up to Year 6. We had the event to establish who would be the house champion for 2024 out of our 4 sports houses; Laser, Hawker, Boomerang and Sea Fury. We also needed to figure out who was going to qualify for the district carnival.
Everyone had a fantastic time while doing the activities and tried their hardest while having fun and encouraging each other. There were plenty of ribbons and smiles on display throughout the day.
Laser won both relays and the chants, but Boomerang were the overall winners for the day. Congratulations!
Thank you for your efforts on sports day and I hope you enjoy the school holidays.

Students on the Track at the Darwin Supercars
On Friday 14th of June, 25 students from Year 5/6 went along to the Students on the Track event at the Darwin Supercars along with Mrs Gardner, Mrs Boyle and Miss Georgia. The students loved watching the races and spending time exploring the Army trucks, trying on their gear and trying to lift the 20kg back packs along with picking up some freebie rations.
We met driver Jimmy Vernon, one of the V8 SuperUte drivers, who kindly gave an autograph to every student and posed for a photo with us. Five students were selected to go along to the Chief Minister's tent for a special lunch with Mrs Gardner. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Year 5/6 First Aid Sessions with St John's Ambulance
Our Year 5/6 students recently participated in two first aid sessions conducted by St John's Ambulance. These sessions aimed to equip our students with essential life-saving skills and knowledge.
Session 1 Highlights:
The first session focused on the basics of first aid, emphasizing the following crucial components:
- 000: Understanding the importance of calling emergency services.
- DRSABCD: Learning the action plan for emergencies—Danger, Response, Send for help, Airway, Breathing, CPR, and Defibrillation.
- CPR: Practicing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation techniques.
- AED: Getting familiar with Automated External Defibrillators and their usage.
Session 2 Highlights:
The second session covered various common injuries and their treatment followed by exploring the ambulance and dressing as a Paramedic, including:
- Wounds: How to clean and dress different types of wounds.
- Bleeding: Techniques to control bleeding effectively.
- Burns: First aid procedures for treating burns.
- Snake Bites: Recognising and responding to snake bites.
These interactive and informative sessions have empowered our students with valuable skills, ensuring they are better prepared to handle emergencies, especially in the lead up to heading out on school camp. We extend our gratitude to Hayley from St John's Ambulance for her expertise and dedication to our students' safety and education, and also Sienna who came along as a volunteer on the first session.
One of our Zuccoli students, Theo Pizanias, recently represented the Northern Territory with a Soccer tournament in Japan.
Theo played with other soccer enthusiasts from the Northern Territory and versed soccer teams in Japan over 9 days, playing 16 games! The team came first in the tournament and won every game undefeated!
Theo is now back at Zuccoli and continuing to play soccer locally. Congratulations Theo on your soccer achievements!
