We are almost half way through the term and we have had a very busy start with lots of exciting events across the school.
Year 5/6 Batchelor Outdoor Education Camp
Last week our Year 5/6 students attended Batchelor Outdoor Education Camp. The students were filled with great excitement as they loaded their belongings on the bus, eager for an adventure. In all the activities that our students participated in they displayed the Zuccoli School Values. There were great moments of resilience and integrity throughout the week and our students were eager to try out new activities. The camp instructors commented about the respectful and encouraging behaviours that our students displayed towards each other. I was lucky enough to attend one of the camps. While we were swimming and snorkelling at Florence Falls a tourist came up to me and let me know how impressed she was with the student’s behaviour and the respect they showed towards the other visitors. Thank you to all the staff who attended the camp and a big thank you to Nikki Konieczny who did an amazing job with communicating to parents and carers about the important details about the camp.
Jeans for Genes Day
On Friday, August 2 all our students wore jeans to raise money for cures and treatments for children’s diseases. We raised $685, fantastic effort everyone!
NT Police Visit
Our Transition classes had a special visit from the NT Police as part of their Inquiry Unit to learn about the important role police play in our community. It provided a great opportunity for students to appreciate the community helpers who contribute to our safety and wellbeing.

Assembly hosted by: Ella Milburn and Abbie Keast-Jones
We’re excited to show you all the cool things we do every day, guided by our school values: Respect, Resiliency, Responsibility, Integrity, and Curiosity.
In this video, you’ll see the Year 5/6 Banaga class in action—learning, engaging, creating, and growing together. And guess what? Our very own song will be playing in the background. We hope you like it.
Term 3 has gotten off to an exciting start. We have our amazing Pre-Service Teacher, Mr Nico, with us from week 2 through to mid week 5. Then we will have Miss Jemma joining us for week 7 & 8. It is always wonderful to see the bond students create with Pre-Service teachers and the new ideas they bring to our class. We have also welcomed two new students, Lucius and Noah.
In week 3, Silver 2 & 3 joined by Mrs Boyle, Ms Johnson, Mr Nico, Mr Dixon and Miss Georgia had three amazing days at the Batchelor Outdoor Education Centre for Year 5/6 Camp. It was an action packed few days where we built pool noodle and pipe rafts then raced them, communicated via walkie talkies to complete a scavenger hunt, went mountain biking, played a range of Wet’n’Wild games, completed team challenges and went on an adventure to Florence Falls at Litchfield National Park. There was a buzz around the camp and on our return. With conversations about trying to catch hold of the big fish at Florence Falls, the fun students had jumping on the trampolines, playing Ding Dong Ditch, secret toilet block meetings, watching sunrises and generally loving spending time with their friends. A huge thank you to Meagan, Jan, Mikki and Archer (Batchelor Outdoor Education Centre staff) who created many wonderful and lasting memories for our students, and to all the students who behaved so well we even received compliments from tourists.
Last week, Silver 3, along with Mrs Boyle, Mr Nico, Mr Dixon and Silver 2, attended camp at the Batchelor Outdoor Education Centre. They had an unforgettable time filled with excitement and adventure. They participated in a range of outdoor activities throughout the three days. They learned about the history and flora of the land when walking into Florence Falls and were rewarded with a swim in its refreshing waters. Activities like Radio Rogaine and mountain biking tested their resilience and persistence, while raft building fostered teamwork and cooperation. There were some very creative water crafts, that surprised us all when they floated! Students also enjoyed the exhilaration of trampolining and the competition of volleyball, where laughter and fun were ever-present. Throughout the camp, they demonstrated remarkable teamwork, building strong bonds and memories that will last a lifetime.
Last week, Silver 4 class exhibited extraordinary resilience during our camp adventure. They participated in various outdoor activities with enjoyment. Teamwork and cooperation was fostered through Radio Rogaine, team challenge games and raft building. We also embarked on a delightful excursion to Florence Falls for a refreshing morning swim before returning to school. Despite the cool morning, every student eagerly plunged into the water, showcasing their bravery and enthusiasm.
On Wednesday 7th August, we held our first Art Spectacular fundraiser. Students worked hard to create a range of pieces inspired by different artists and used a variety of mediums. Students were so excited to see their work displayed and share it with the people who are most important to them.
We are greatful for the support of all the families who attended. We appreciate your engagement in our school community and through our collective efforts, raised over $300.00 which will be used to purchase more art resources.
Thank you to Woolworths and Coles for supporting us to provide nibbles for our event.
We look forward to engaging in more art experiences for the remainder of the year.

Police Visit Transition
On Tuesday 30th July (Week 3) our Transition classes were lucky enough to have some lovely Police Officers visit them as part of our inquiry unit for this Term’s focusing on 'People who help us in our community'. The two Police Officers showed us their different police hats and parts of their uniform that they wear and we got to try them on. They told us all the different ways that the Police can help us in our community and we got to see a Police car up close. The Police even put on the sirens and lights for us. So exciting!!!!
The Transition Potato Olympics
Transition Lane have been participating in The Potato Olympics over the last 2 weeks as part of their Measurement unit in Maths. This was a fun way for students to learn about the Olympic Games which is currently happening in Paris and for them to learn and practise different skills such as problem solving, measurement and measurement language, counting and data collection.
Students were each given a potato, which they decorated and turned into their Potato Olympic athletes. The potato athletes all got to compete in 5 different Olympic events diving, spinning (break dancing), running, weightlifting and gymnastics for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals.
The students also participated in their very own Potato Olympics torch relay and Opening Ceremony where the Olympic torch was lit to symbolise the beginning of the games.
