Assistant Principal's Message - Rebecca Gardner
Can you believe we’re half way through Term 1? Time is flying, and it’s fantastic to see our students settling into routines, making new friendships and embracing their learning experiences.
There’s been so much happening around the school, from engaging classroom activities to events and there’s plenty more to look forward to in the coming weeks. A big thank you to our staff and families for your ongoing support in making our school a positive and welcoming place for all.
Our older students recently represented our school in an interschool competition, showing great teamwork, sportsmanship and determination. We’re so proud of their efforts and can’t wait for more opportunities like this throughout the year. Thank you to Mr Lonergan for organising this event and the staff who attended to support our students.
Our Year 3 and Year 5 students are sitting NAPLAN this week and next week, and we’re proud of their effort and focus. We encourage them to do their best and approach the assessments with confidence! Our students NAPLAN results will provide us with insights into how our students are tracking, helping us see where they’re improving, where extra support might be needed and their areas of excellence. This helps us to inform our teaching to support every student in the best way possible.
A big thank you to all the parents who attended our recent assembly. It was a great opportunity to celebrate our new student leaders as they received their badges. We look forward to the positive changes these leaders bring to our school community
Our Colour Splatacular is just a few weeks away on March 28, so keep up the awesome fundraising! Who knows… I might even get slimed!
Thank you for your continued support! Let’s keep up the great work, stay positive and finish the term strong. Looking forward to everything we’ll accomplish together in the coming weeks!

Our 3-Way Conferences are coming up soon. These conferences provide a great opportunity for students to share their learning journey, reflect on their progress and set goals alongside their teacher and family.
Your child will take an active role in the conversation, discussing their achievements and areas for growth. We encourage all families to attend and support their child’s learning.
Dates:
- Tuesday March 25, 3-6pm

In 5/6 Banaga S.M.A.R.T Class, we’ve found a fun and creative way to practise our spelling words—writing them on balloons! Instead of just using paper and pencils, we grab colourful balloons and carefully write out each word. This exciting activity helps us focus on our spelling while making learning more enjoyable.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! After we finish writing, we get to use the balloons for a well-earned brain break. We toss, bounce and play with them. This makes spelling practise not only educational but also a fantastic way to stay active and engaged. Learning in 5/6 Banaga is always filled with creativity and fun!

Hi avid newsletter readers! We're excited to share some of our thoughts and experiences about our classroom so far this year.

- WM: One thing that has made me feel comfortable in class is my new and old friends.
- BP: At the start of the year, I was feeling nervous but I made a new friend. AC is my new best friend.
Surprising Discoveries
- LC: Something that surprised me about the class is the amount of joking and laughing.
- OW: Something that surprised me about this class is how fun the maths game Prodigy is. I have a pet called ‘Snow Fluff’.
What We Love About School ❤️
- CR: The thing I love to do at school is writing a story. ✍️
- EH: One thing I really enjoy about my classroom is learning on the laptops.
- KG: A subject I have found interesting is HASS. It is so fun role-playing parliament.

Setting Goals & Challenges

- JH: A goal I have for the next few weeks is to get my name pulled out of the reward raffle box on a Friday.
- EC: By the end of the term, I hope to go to a pizza party by getting RRRIC tickets.
- MB: Something I found difficult was writing and now I find it easier because I have been practicing a lot. ✏️
Our Favourite Activities
- CP: Hi, whoever is reading this! I want to learn more about dividing and my favourite class activity is Prodigy. ➗
- CD: A new friend I have made is EH and we like to play handball together.
Looking Ahead
- ED: I try every day to make learning fun and to inspire my students to do their best. ✨
This term, 1/2 Redway has been exploring emotions and self-regulation using the Zones of Regulation framework. Each morning, students participate in a Zones of Regulation check-in, where they reflect on how they are feeling and identify which zone they are in. This daily practice helps students build awareness of their emotions and develop strategies to manage them effectively.
We have been learning about what our bodies feel like in different zones and discussing how some emotions can feel comfortable while others may feel uncomfortable. Understanding that all emotions are natural and that we can use tools to help us regulate has been an important focus in our learning.
To support their self-regulation skills, students have created their own Zones of Regulation toolbox. These toolboxes are filled with strategies that students can use in the classroom to help them feel more comfortable and ready to learn. Some of these tools include breathing exercises, movement breaks, rest time and using sensory tools.
It has been wonderful to see students developing a stronger understanding of their emotions and taking ownership of their self-regulation strategies.

We would like to take a moment to thank all our parents/carers who are doing their best to follow the school’s car park and drop-off procedures. Your cooperation helps ensure the safety of all students and keeps traffic flowing smoothly during busy times.
To support a safe and efficient drop-off and pick-up process, we would like to remind families of a few key protocols:
Kiss and Go Area:
- This zone is designed for quick drop-offs and pick-ups. Please do not park or leave your vehicle unattended.
- Keep traffic moving by pulling as far forward as possible as space becomes available, avoiding unnecessary gaps.
- The designated pick-up and drop-off point in the Kiss and Go area is the straight section where students wait on the seats. Please ensure your child enters/exits the vehicle safely within this area.
- Do not call or signal for your child to run to the car—this creates a serious safety risk. Please wait for them to walk safely to the designated pick-up area.
Preschool Car Park:
- The preschool car park does not have a Kiss and Go zone. If using this area, please park safely in a designated space and walk your child to their entry point.
- Do not stop in the middle of the road to let your child in or out of the vehicle. This creates unsafe conditions and delays for others.
Patience and Courtesy:
We understand that drop-off and pick-up times can be busy. Your patience and cooperation help keep everyone safe.
By following these simple guidelines, we can work together to create a safer and more efficient experience for everyone.
Thank you for your ongoing support!

Meet the Peeps - Anna Huynh - Year 1/2 Teacher
What is your favourite part of the school day?
My favourite part of the school day is welcoming students in the morning because it sets a positive tone for the day. I enjoy greeting students, seeing their excitement and helping them settle into the classroom environment. It’s a great time to build relationships, reinforce routines and create a welcoming atmosphere for learning.
What is the most important lesson you want your students to learn?
The most important lesson I want my students to learn is kindness and respect—both for themselves and others. Academic skills are important, but I believe that fostering empathy, resilience and a love for learning will help them succeed in all aspects of life.
Do you have any hobbies outside of school?
Yes, outside of school, I enjoy working out and cooking. Exercising helps me stay active and energized, while cooking allows me to be creative while also ensuring my family enjoys quality time over good food. Both hobbies help me unwind and maintain a balanced lifestyle.
Do you have a favourite quote?
Yes, my favourite quote is a Law of Attraction quote: "What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create." I believe that maintaining a positive mindset and focusing on good intentions can shape our experiences and lead to personal growth.
When you feel frustrated, how do you calm your mind and stay focused?
When I feel frustrated, I take a deep breath and pause to reset my mind. I find that stepping away for a moment, whether by practicing deep breathing, stretching or even just a positive self-talk helps me regain focus.
